Versine for AI assistants

Ce document est disponible en anglais uniquement.
Versine’s MCP server lets an AI assistant, like Claude or ChatGPT, check your balance, find your contacts, pay people and ask them for money for you. You decide what each assistant may do, and payments that need your approval wait for you in the Versine app.
1. Before you start
- A Versine account, set up in the Versine app. Versine is for US residents 18 and older.
- An assistant that supports remote MCP servers (custom connectors), such as Claude or ChatGPT.
2. Connect an assistant
- In your assistant’s connector settings, add Versine from its directory, or add a custom connector with this URL:
https://mcp.versine.com/ - Sign in with your Versine account when asked.
- Choose what the assistant may do (section 3), then allow it.
- Let the assistant use Versine’s tools without asking you each time. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, open Versine and set its tools to Always allow. In ChatGPT, choose to remember your answer when it asks you to confirm a Versine action. Your Versine permissions, limits and approvals still apply to every payment.
The server uses OAuth 2.1 sign-in and the Streamable HTTP transport. Your assistant never sees your password or your passkey.
3. What an assistant may do
Each assistant gets only the permissions you give it, and you can change them at any time on the Agents page of the Versine app. An assistant can never change its own permissions.
| Permission | What it allows |
|---|---|
| See the balance | Read what you can spend now. |
| See past activity | Read your payments and requests, and where each stands. |
| See contacts | Find and add people in your Versine contacts. |
| Send money to Versine members | Pay people on Versine. Payments that need your approval wait for you in the Versine app. |
| Send money to people not on Versine | Pay people who aren’t on Versine yet. They get a link to claim the money. |
| Request money | Ask Versine members to pay you. |
| Set up routines | Propose scheduled payments, which you set up yourself in the app, and pause them. |
4. Approvals and limits
- You approve payments. Payments that need your approval wait for you in the Versine app.
- Your limits apply. Every payment counts against your account’s limits, whichever assistant sends it.
- Nothing moves twice. Each payment carries a key the assistant makes up, so a repeated call returns the first result instead of paying again.
- You can disconnect. On the Agents page of the Versine app, open the assistant and tap Disconnect. It loses access at once.
5. Tools
These are the tools the server offers. Each one needs the permission listed, and an assistant without it is told so.
| Tool | What it does | Permission |
|---|---|---|
get_balance | Shows what you can spend now. | See the balance |
get_permissions | Shows what the assistant may do for you. | None |
list_activity | Lists recent payments and requests and where each stands. | See past activity |
list_my_actions | Lists what this assistant did, and whether each was allowed, waited for you or was refused. | None |
submit_feedback | Tells the Versine team about anything that was hard, broken or missing, with how urgent it is. | None |
list_contacts | Lists your contacts, with the IDs used to pay them. With none yet, it links to importing them in the app. | See contacts |
find_contact | Finds a contact by name or number. | See contacts |
add_contact | Saves someone to your contacts. | See contacts, and Send money or Request money |
update_contact | Saves a US mobile number for a contact who isn’t on Versine, so they can be paid. | See contacts, and Send money or Request money |
get_status | Shows where one payment stands. | None (its own payments) |
settle_up | Pays one person. Someone not on Versine gets a link to claim the money. | Send money (to people not on Versine too, for them) |
settle_up_group | Pays several people at once, with one approval for the ones that wait. | Send money (to people not on Versine too, for them) |
ask_to_settle | Asks a Versine member to pay you. | Request money |
cancel_request | Cancels a request this assistant sent that nobody has paid. | Request money |
list_scheduled_settle_ups | Lists your scheduled payments, and the ones this assistant proposed that you haven’t set up. | Set up routines |
schedule_settle_up | Schedules a payment for later or on a repeat, which you manage in the app. | Set up routines |
pause_scheduled_settle_up | Pauses a scheduled payment. Only you can resume or stop it, in the app. | Set up routines |
6. Things to ask
- “What’s my Versine balance?”
- “Pay Maya $24 for dinner.”
- “Split $90 between Sam, Alex and Jordan.”
- “Ask Chris for the $40 he owes me.”
- “Pay my rent of $1,200 every 30 days.”
- “Did my payment to Sam go through?”
7. Privacy
An assistant sees only what its permissions allow, and never your contacts’ phone numbers or email addresses. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, and our Terms of Service apply to payments an assistant sends for you. Your assistant’s own privacy policy covers what it keeps, for example Anthropic’s or OpenAI’s.
